Tampico
Tampico is a city in northeastern Mexico, situated on the Pánuco River, near the Gulf of Mexico. It serves as the seat of the Tampico municipality and is the largest economic center on the Gulf. In the 1920s, the city experienced rapid growth, becoming a pioneer in aviation and soda production. The developed chemical, food, and metal industries support the city's economy. Tampico is also a major export port for Mexican oil, silver, and copper. The city is home to about 303,000 residents.
